India Silk Bedroom

The name of the India Silk Bedroom comes from the silk bedspread that has traditionally been used in this room.

The bed was made in 1923 and uses posts that were found in the brew house and date from c1760.

The paintings are nearly all of landscapes, which are hung in Sunderland frames designed by Robert Spencer, Earl of Sunderland, in the early 17th century. Most of the pictures are from the Anglo-Dutch school of the late 17th century.
