The Third Earl with friends and prize bull Wiseton by Richard Ansdell 1843. The other paintings in this room are of prize cattle bred by the Third Earl Spencer. After the death of his wife Esther in 1818, Lord Spencer found consolation in farming and stock-breeding. He was founder, together with the Duke of Richmond, of the Royal Agricultural Society. Also involved in politics, he became Chancellor of the Exchequer.
